First lady Jill Biden is expected to visit Pittsburgh this weekend, her second visit in just over a month.
The first lady is scheduled to arrive at Pittsburgh International Airport around 4 p.m. Saturday before delivering remarks at an Italian Sons and Daughters of America dinner in Pittsburgh.
On the same day, former President Donald Trump will be stumping in Butler County.
The campaign stops come at critical times for the Democratic president and his Republican rival.
Trump’s first Western Pennsylvania rally of the campaign season will take place just days before the start of the 2024 Republican National Convention, set for July 15-18 in Milwaukee.
Butler County, with its large, rural population, will be important for Trump’s chances in November, experts have said. Trump secured 65% of the county’s vote in 2020, compared to 33% for Biden.
The first lady’s visit comes amid mounting pressure from some Democrats for the president to step down and allow a new candidate to face off against Trump this fall.
Biden’s shaky performance during the first presidential debate of the year has sparked concerns from some that the 81-year-old is unfit for a second term.
Jill Biden last visited Pittsburgh on June 1, when she addressed revelers at the annual Pittsburgh Pride event.
