WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Tuesday ratcheted up his attacks on the media following the conclusion of a two-year investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller that did not establish coordination between Trump and Russia on election interference.
“The Mainstream Media is under fire and being scorned all over the World as being corrupt and FAKE,” Trump asserted in a morning tweet. “For two years they pushed the Russian Collusion Delusion when they always knew there was No Collusion. They truly are the Enemy of the People and the Real Opposition Party!”

Trump cited no evidence to back up his unfounded assertion that media organizations knew he had not coordinated with Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign.
A summary of Mueller’s report released Sunday by Attorney General William Barr also said that Mueller did not offer a conclusion on whether Trump sought to obstruct justice during the investigation.
After accepting Mueller’s report, Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, determined that the evidence was insufficient to allege that Trump had obstructed justice – a move that has drawn criticism from Democratic lawmakers.
Since Sunday, Trump and his allies have stepped up attacks on both the media and lawmakers who raised the possibility that Trump and his campaign coordinated with Russia. That has included calls for some members of Congress to resign.
On Tuesday morning, Trump also retweeted a tweet by Tom Fitton of the conservative group Judicial Watch that asserted that the Justice Department, FBI and Mueller never had a “good faith basis” to pursue Trump related to Russia.
