Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner touts administration's response against the covid-19 pandemic 'a great success story'
On a day when the nation’s death toll of covid-19 neared 60,000 and 26.5 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits, President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner called the administration’s response a “great success story.”
“The government, federal government rose to the challenge, and this is a great success story, and I think that that’s really what needs to be told,” Kushner said Wednesday on Fox News.

The White House senior adviser’s comments on “Fox and Friends” were made when the country’s death toll surpassed the Vietnam War. Meanwhile, there are more than 1 million confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
“We’re on the other side of the medical aspect of this,” Kushner said. “We’ve achieved all the different milestones that are needed.”
Kushner, 39, painted a rosy picture, saying the majority of the country could be “back to normal” by June as several states prepare to lift restrictions meant to slow the spread of coronavirus.
“I think what you’ll see in May, as the states are reopening now, is May will be a transition month,” he said. “And I think you’ll see by June, a lot of the country should be back to normal and the hope is that … by July the country is really rocking again.”
Kushner, who is married to Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, added that the administration was above the curve on testing for coronavirus, despite scientific experts calling for more before the U.S. can open up the economy.

“Everyone’s talking about testing,” Kushner said. “I have to say the work that’s been done over the last 60 days on testing has been absolutely extraordinary.”
