The hills are alive with the sound of adventure.

Wonsettler Physical Therapy (WPT) invites you to lace up your sneakers, gather your grit, and embrace a challenge like no other at the 3rd Annual WPT Farm Games, taking place Saturday, July 19, on the picturesque, rolling farmland of the Wonsettler’s Farm in Scenery Hill.

Blending the spirit of a Spartan Race with the messy joy of a Tough Mudder — but with a hometown, all-skills-welcome vibe — the Farm Games are less about competition and more about celebration: of movement, community, and personal growth.

But don’t worry — this isn’t only a race for elite athletes. In fact, it’s not a race at all.

Movement for Everyone — From Mud to Motivation

With three unique courses designed for all ages and fitness levels — including a 1-mile kids’ course (under age 16), a 1.25-mile beginner course, and a 3-mile advanced course — the WPT Farm Games are built for fun, not fear.

There are no awards, no rankings, and no time limit. Sprint if you want, stroll if you need — the only goal is to move your body and enjoy the journey.

“We created the Farm Games to take the pressure off and bring the joy back to physical activity,” says Cliff Wonsettler, physical therapist and owner of Wonsettler PT. “You don’t have to be an elite athlete to take part. You just need a willingness to try — and maybe a sense of humor about getting dirty.”

Conquer the Course — Your Way

Participants will take on natural, farm-inspired obstacles like climbing hay bales, swinging sledgehammers into stumps, carrying hay or buckets, crawling, climbing, and even shoveling a little mushroom manure. You’ll wade through creeks, run (or walk) through pastures, tackle a barn maze, and finish strong at WPT’s clinic.

But here’s the best part: every obstacle includes a bypass option and support so anyone can participate, even if certain challenges feel out of reach.

“The goal isn’t perfection — it’s progress,” Cliff explains. “We want people to feel strong, supported, and surprised by what they can do. You can walk the whole thing and still have a blast.”

A Muddy Celebration of Community

Beyond the obstacles and the sweat, the WPT Farm Games are about something deeper: community, connection, and courage.

Everyone starts together. Everyone finishes the course in a way that works for them. Participants encourage and cheer for one another throughout it all, creating an unforgettable shared experience.

“We see people come here and do things they didn’t think they were capable of,” says Cliff. “And they don’t do it alone — they do it with friends, family, and even strangers lifting them up along the way. That’s the real power of the farm.”

This year, the Farm Games are also drawing support from the local business community. Joe Bossong, owner of Bossong Plumbing, has turned the event into a company-wide team-building opportunity by inviting his employees, their families, and friends to take part. “It’s a chance to step away from the job, connect with each other, and take on something challenging and fun as a team,” said Joe.

Bossong Plumbing’s involvement highlights how the Farm Games create space for connection — not just among individuals, but across organizations. Other businesses interested in joining the fun are encouraged to reach out to explore team participation, sponsorship, or volunteer opportunities.
