Santa Claus is coming to the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum!
The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum is rolling into the holiday season as they welcome Santa Claus aboard for their annual Santa Trolley event!
Visit the museum to see the merry man himself on November 28 to 30, December 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 & 21 for this spectacular event that runs from 9 am to 5 pm. Please view the website listing for exact departure times.
Visitors will have the chance to meet Santa Claus, chat with him on their 4-mile journey, and take a picture with him before their ride concludes! Visitors can stop by the museum’s large Lionel toy train layout and view the wonderful LEGO layout built by Steel City LUG, Pittsburgh Area’s Adult LEGO User Group. Children can enjoy a holiday craft, and everyone can enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and cookies.
Tickets include a second festive trolley ride aboard the Yuletide Shuttle. Our Trolley Display Building will be open during Santa Trolley as well, so visitors can explore the rest of our streetcar collection and the Festival of Trees, a gorgeous display of trees from our community partners! Farmhouse Kitchen & Bakery will be on-site each day of Santa Trolley offering a selection of coffee and pastries.
New this year: Sensory-Friendly Santa Trolley combines the joy of the holiday season with a less overwhelming experience for those who may have sensitivities. Accommodations such as dimmer lights and quieter sound, as well as a lower passenger count on the trolleys will help prevent overstimulation.
Like always, passengers may borrow Sensory Friendly Bags equipped with fidget toys and noise-cancelling headphones. Additionally, our staff acting as trolley conductors, Santa’s elves, and the jolly old man himself have completed training on how to make visits as safe and enjoyable as possible for neurodivergent visitors. Two rides have been designated as sensory-friendly: 8:55 am and 9:10 am on November 30.
We are grateful to our Santa Trolley Diamond Sponsor, Washington Financial Charitable Foundation, for their generous support.
Admission for Santa Trolley is $25 per person and children under 2 and under are free but must ride on an adult’s lap. This admission will include your trip on the Santa Trolley, trips on the Yuletide shuttle, and access to the open exhibits at the Museum. This event is extremely popular, and we strongly suggest ticket purchases be made online in advance due to limited seating. The tickets may be purchased on the museum’s website at patrolley.org/events.
During the month of December, the Museum will also be hosting its Trolleys and Toy Trains event, held on Thursdays and Fridays, December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 & 19, from 10 am to 4 pm. Visitors to this event will be able to ride on our decorated trolleys and view the toy train layouts. Trolleys and Toy Trains is included with museum admission, consisting of access to interactive exhibits and unlimited rides on the trolleys. Tickets may be purchased at the Museum and will not be sold in advance.
The Museum is currently open during our fall/winter seasonal hours, which are Thursday through Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm through Memorial Day. Check the Museum website for information about the 2025 Santa Trolley and its online ticket sales. Note: the museum will be open December 26-28 — please enjoy a festive visit with your family and friends!
