ASHLAND, Ohio — Fire officials say three children were killed and three other people were injured in an overnight house fire in rural north-central Ohio.

Authorities said the children killed in the early Monday blaze were ages 2, 4 and 12. Three other people were hospitalized with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The two-story house in Jeromesville, about 70 miles (113 kilometers) southwest of Cleveland, was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at about 12:46 a.m. The cause hasn’t been determined.

News video recorded later in the morning showed heavy equipment working amid the charred remains of the house amid farm fields.

At least six fire departments were involved.
