Band-Aid is expanding bandage skin tone options
Band-Aid is embracing diversity.
Johnson & Johnson announced Thursday it would be rolling out several new skin tone colors for its bandages.
“We hear you. We see you. We’re listening to you,” the company said in a post on its Instagram page.
“We are committed to launching a range of bandages in light, medium and deep shades of Brown and Black skin tones that embrace the beauty of diverse skin. We are dedicated to inclusivity and providing the best healing solutions, better representing you.”

It was not revealed when the new skin tone bandages would be available.
Several responses to the post questioned why the company that has been in business since 1920 is only now introducing tone colors other than those for Caucasian skin.
“Why did it take 100years to do this????” asked markfromdade.
User dcutiepie_08 wrote, “Ugh we already have Black Owned brands doing this, since our skin color has not been a priority or necessary for your brand.”
Several companies — such as Browndages and Tru-Colour — have been offering diverse skin tone bandages for years.
In addition, the company said it would be making a donation to the Black Lives Matter movement.
In their post, Band-Aid brand vowed to continue to improve themselves.
“We promise that this is just the first among many steps together in the fight against systemic racism,” the post read.” We can, we must and we will do better.”
