Cottonelle issues recall on flushable wipes because of possible bacteria contamination
Kimberly-Clark has issued a recall of its Cottonelle Flushable Wipes and Cottonelle GentlePlus Flushable Wipes because they may be contaminated with bacteria.
The wipes were made between Feb. 7 and Sept. 14.
According to the Cottonelle website, the wipes may be contaminated with “a bacterium (Pluralibacter gergoviae) which naturally occurs in the environment and in the human body.
Pluralibacter gergoviae rarely causes serious infections in healthy individuals. However, individuals with weakened immune systems are at a heightened risk of infection.”
The company said it has received a “low rate” of complaints including irritation and minor infection.
If you have these products, you can use the company’s lot checker on its website to determine if they are among the recalled packages.
The company said the recall has nothing to do with the current covid-19 pandemic.
