Policemen stand in front of the eatery where a waiter was shot dead by a customer allegedly angry at having to wait for a sandwich, in the eastern Paris suburb of Noisy-le-Grand on Aug. 17, 2019. The gunman, who witnesses said lost his temper ‘as his sandwich wasn’t prepared quickly enough’ for his liking, fled the scene. Police have opened a murder investigation.

A waiter was shot and killed Friday night by a customer at a restaurant in the suburbs of Paris because he was too slow with an order.

The alleged gunman, who a witness said lost his temper “as his sandwich wasn’t prepared quickly enough,” fled the scene and is still at-large Saturday in Noisy-le-Grand.

The victim’s co-workers called police once he was shot in the shoulder with a handgun in the Noisy-le-Grand suburb east of Paris, a source told Agence France-Presse.

Attempts to revive the 28-year-old failed and he died at the scene, AFP reported.

“He was killed for a sandwich?” a witness asked.
