How many votes did Kanye West get in the presidential race?
The 2020 election results are still rolling in, and it might be days or weeks before the presidential race is decided between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden.
But Kanye West knows he didn’t win. The rapper admitted defeat after getting just 60,000 votes in 12 states.
“WELP,” West wrote on Twitter in a since-deleted tweet.
But there was a record of him voting.

According to preliminary tallies by the Associated Press, West got more than a thousand votes in each state where he appeared on the ballot. As of 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, he had 4,040 votes in Arkansas; 6,210 in Colorado; 3,631 in Idaho; 3,197 in Iowa; 6,259 in Kentucky; 4,894 in Louisiana; 7,783 in Minnesota; 3,171 in Mississippi; 5,590 in Oklahoma; 10,216 in Tennessee; 4,344 in Utah; and 1,264 in Vermont.
By comparison, Biden had nearly 69 million votes Wednesday morning and Trump was approaching 67 million.
West also had fewer votes than Libertarian Party nominee Jo Jorgensen in every state where he appeared on the ballot, but he was in fourth place in some states. Jorgensen had about 1.5 million total votes, or 1.1% nationwide, as of Wednesday morning.
The hip-hop star, who is married to Kim Kardashian, was running as an independent for the “Birthday Party” and entered the race late, missing the deadline to appear on the ballot in many states, including New York. Multiple reports indicated he may have been less serious about a White House bid and more interested in being a “spoiler” for states that could decide the election between Trump and Biden; West has openly supported Trump and appeared in public wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat.
However, the small number of votes for West don’t appear likely to affect the outcome in the presidential race. The White House race may come down to three battleground states — Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania — where West did not appear on the ballot.
But West hinted he could run for president again, tweeting “KANYE 2024” with a picture of himself in front of an Electoral College map.

On Tuesday, West revealed he voted in an election for the first time, voting for himself in Wyoming, where he has a home.
“Today I am voting for the first time in my life for the President of the United States, and it’s for someone I truly trust … me,” he tweeted. “The first vote of my life. We are here to serve. We pray for every servant leader in the world.”
