A man working at a New Zealand advertising agency had a funny way of dealing with his own firing.

The unidentified adman was permitted to have someone at his side for support in a meeting where his job was being terminated, reports the New Zealand Herald. Rather than choosing a close friend or family member, the man hired a clown.

The FCB employee had the clown at his side, according to a photo sent to the Herald on Thursday.

The Herald wrote that the clown made balloon animals throughout the meeting.

The clown reportedly mimed crying when the layoff paperwork was hand to the staffer.

The Herald reports that job cuts at FCB follow the loss of the Vodafone ad account.

The terminated staffer has already moved on to a new job at DDB, the Herald reports. Without the clown.
