Aa Ring doorbell camera is seen at a home in Wolcott, Conn.

A mother in Mississippi said hackers commandeered her daughter’s Ring security camera and taunted her 8-year-old daughter.

A video obtained by NBC affiliate WMC shows a view of the child’s room while mysterious music starts playing from the Ring. A voice can also be heard saying, “Hello there.”

During one clip, the voice is heard, “I’m your best friend. I’m Santa Claus.”

Ashley LeMay installed the Ring security camera in order to watch over her three daughters and to feel connected to them during her night shifts as a nurse. But a couple days later, the disturbance started.

“She was terrorized by somebody through the camera. They didn’t stop. She screamed for me. You can tell in the video she originally thought it was her dad. Then you can see the look in her eye when she realizes ‘I don’t know who this is,’” LeMay said.

Each time I've watched this video it's given me chills.

A Desoto County mother shared this Ring video with me. Four days after the camera was installed in her daughters' room she says someone hacked the camera & began talking to her 8-year-old daughter.

Ring told NBC News in a statement that, “While we are still investigating this issue and are taking appropriate steps to protect our devices based on our investigation, we are able to confirm this incident is in no way related to a breach or compromise of Ring’s security.”
