Officer suspended for dancing nude, drunk at nightclub
Generally, most workplaces frown on dancing naked and drunk in public.
They’re funny like that.
Of course, it’s even more important to keep sober and clothed if you are an off-duty police officer.
KATV in Little Rock reports Officer Cebron Hackett of the Conway Police Department has been suspended without pay for 30 days after a recent off-duty visit to the Discovery Nightclub in Little Rock.
It seems Hackett became “highly intoxicated” and stripped down to his birthday suit to dance his naked butt off to Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.”
It’s hard to determine which aspect of that brought on the suspension.
And, this being 2019, of course there’s cellphone video.
Hackett twirled around several times before landing on the ground. That’s when security stepped in and helped escort him out.
“Your actions have brought discredit and embarrassment upon the Conway Police Department and could have resulted in your arrest for Public Intoxication,” Chief Jody Spradlin wrote in Hackett’s letter of suspension.
According to letter, Hackett was taken back to the Conway station, where his personal vehicle was parked. He ended up driving himself home.
Spradlin wrote that not enough time had passed for Hackett to “safely and legally drive a motor vehicle.
“While your level of intoxication cannot be proved at that moment, it is very reasonable under these set of circumstances to state that you failed to hold yourself to a standard that is acceptable by the public of the police department,” Spradlin wrote in the letter.
In addition to his 30-day suspension, Hackett was ordered to complete remedial training. Hackett was not charged with a crime.
KATV was unable to get a comment from Hackett or from the Conway Police Department.
