Ohio man on beer diet for Lent has lost 25 pounds

An Ohio man who is sustaining himself during Lent on a diet of beer is about halfway through his challenge and has dropped 25 pounds so far.

Del Hall, who works at a brewery in Cincinnati and is Army veteran, has posted updates to social media throughout his beer fast. On Saturday he posted “Day 18…I’m down over 25lbs!!!”

Hall gained national attention early this month when his story was reported by the Cincinnati Enquirer and then picked up by other media outlets and shared on social media.

Hall based his diet on something monks in the 1600s did during Lent. He said that the monks would fast during the season living on a diet of bock beer. When he started he said the first days were difficult but he started to feel good.

Tuesday marks day 20 of the fast. Lent ends on Holy Thursday, April 18 this year, leaving Hall just 23 more days to go.
