Why did the humongous snake cross the road?
Well, really … for any reason it wants.
But, in this case, it crossed because a few folks in Brazil were kind enough to halt traffic and let the anaconda get across a divided highway.
The Dodo reported on the incident, talking with Italo Nascimento Fernandes who happened upon the scene.
“(My wife and I) decided to stop the car and get out,” Fernandes told The Dodo. “There are no signs for the cars to wait so she can cross. I have seen snakes run over on the highway before, and think such thing is a crime.”
In a video posted to Facebook by Rondoniaovivo, those who aren’t holding their cameras up filming are holding up drivers from running over the snake.
“Many people quickly appeared and also helped,” he said.
“It’s not everyone who protects animals like that,” Fernandes said. “Some people prefer to see them dead.”
Fernandes captured the scene from another angle.
He told The Dodo the snake made it safely into the woods.
Seeing all the people help gave a wonderful sensation,” Fernandes told The Dodo.
