“Love that chicken from Popeyes.”

No kidding.

The new chicken sandwiches at Popeyes didn’t last long.

Fifteen days, to be exact. The fried chicken chain announced Tuesday it is sold out of the sandwiches nationwide.

Fret not. Popeyes said via Twitter that the sandwich would make a return, and this time “for good.”

In the Tweet, the company highlights the popularity of the new item by showing customers standing in long lines reaching beyond store property as well as long drive-thru lines reaching around the block.

“You ate ‘em all,” the tweet says.

According to CNBC, Popeyes officially launched the sandwich Aug. 12 and dubbed it as their largest launch in nearly 30 years.

Not large enough.

No doubt, the high sales were due, in part, to a Twitter “beef” between Popeyes and Chick-fil-A that led customers to try the new sandwich and compare it against the already established brand.

The company told the network they “aggressively” forecasted demand for the duration of September, but missed the mark.

Popeyes says it is working to bring the sandwich back as soon as possible.

It wasn’t clear when that will be, however. In the meantime, they urged customers to get the Popeyes app on their devices so they’d be “the first to know.”

Popeyes has locations in Wilkins, South Strabane, North Versailles and Pittsburgh’s South Side.

Chick-fil-A has more than a dozen locations around Western Pennsylvania.
