President Trump was moved Friday evening to an underground bunker at the White House as protesters clashed with police and Secret Service agents outside, CNN reported late Sunday.
Officials told The New York Times that they never believed the president was in danger but took the precaution as tensions escalated.

According to CNN, the president remained in the bunker for almost an hour as protesters pulled metal barricades away from the White House gates. Some protesters threw bricks and bottles at Trump’s residence. Others shouted and cursed the president’s name.
The National Guard was deployed in Washington during the weekend at the Pentagon’s request to help maintain order near the White House.
“Big crowd, professionally organized, but nobody came close to breaching the fence. If they had they would have been greeted with the most vicious dogs, and most ominous weapons, I have ever seen,” Trump tweeted on Saturday.
