An old home needed a new place to stay, so a family decided to moved it by land and sea.

On Wednesday, a historic mansion that’s spent 250 years on the same plot in Easton, Md., was loaded onto a barge and motored up Chesapeake Bay about 50 miles to DeCoursey Cove in the town of Queenstown, The Baltimore Sun reported.

The 1760s red brick Georgian home called Galloway Mansion was transported on oversized, custom-built trailers 6 miles to the water. It took four nights to travel the distance.

The family who owns the house said they were looking to settle the historic building in a quieter site.

The cost of the entire move will be just shy of $1 million, one family member told the Baltimore Sun.

“The objective was to have someplace to be able to say ‘when you go home, this is where you go,’ ” another family member said.
