Christmas greetings from local leaders

Tribune-Review

In celebration of Christmas, today’s letters to the editor are not to the editor at all. They are Christmas greetings from local leaders to our readers, the people of the communities they serve.

This time of year is one in which we come together. It reminds us that we have more in common than separates us. That calling someone family or neighbor isn’t a descriptor of their relationship with you, but how that person makes you feel. And that the sense of community, and working together, is what makes us unique and should be celebrated.

This holiday season, I wish everyone a happy holiday season — regardless of how or what you celebrate.

Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald

I want to extend my best Christmas and New Year’s wishes to all those who call themselves Pittsburghers — to those who live in the city or near it, those who have moved away, and those who one day want to move here. We’re doing all we can to make sure Pittsburgh is a welcoming city to all, providing a place to live and thrive for families who have been here generations and those just planting roots here. That means offering good government, good schools, affordable places to live and job opportunities to all, which is something we aspire to and will work toward every day of 2020.

Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto

During this festive season, we reflect on our blessings, as we’ve worked to make Westmoreland County the best that it can be for you and your families. We are proud of the wide range of services offered for Westmoreland County residents, ranging from emergency management to human services and from recreation to criminal justice. We have always strived to work hard for our residents, always keeping you in mind with our decision-making.

We wish you happiness this holiday season and throughout the coming year.

The Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners: Charles Anderson, Gina Cerilli, Ted Kopas

On behalf of Greensburg City Council, the entire staff of Greensburg employees, the Greensburg Police Department and the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department, I would like to extend our warmest wishes for the happiest of holiday seasons to all Greensburg residents, and the residents of our surrounding communities. We hope that you, and your families, experience the joy and happiness of the season, and we wish you all nothing but health, happiness and prosperity in the coming year.

Greensburg Mayor Robert L. Bell

Peace • Joy • Hope

May we be beacons of hope,

messengers of joy,

and instruments of peace …

each day of the new year.

Blessings of the Season

U.S. Rep. Mike Doyle, D-Forest Hills

On Christmas, we pause to reflect on the kindness, generosity and grace that mark this season. As we give thanks for our many blessings, we also pray for those who are far from home today defending our nation. In America, we have much for which to be grateful — for our loved ones, our freedom and our community. As we celebrate the joys of the holiday season, my wife, Alice, and I wish you and your family a merry Christmas and a bright 2020 ahead.

U.S. Rep. John Joyce, R-Hollidaysburg

As my first year representing the constituents of Pennsylvania’s 14th Congressional District comes to a close, I want to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year. It is an honor to serve you and bring southwestern Pennsylvania values to Washington, D.C. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday season.

U.S. Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-Peters
