Letter to the editor: A look at views, stances of Hamas
They believe God gave them the right to own and bear weapons like assault rifles. They don’t recognize any rights for the LGBTQ community. They banned drag queen shows and believe transgenderism is a mental disease that needs to be eradicated.
They believe the government should be built on a foundation of values based on the word of God. They carefully control which books are accessible to children in schools and in libraries. You will never see critical race theory being taught in any of their schools or universities. They believe in prayer and worship of God in school every morning. They believe their religion is being oppressed not only by the government, but throughout the world, and those who do not share their beliefs deserve condemnation through eternity.
They have banned abortion and view women as second-class citizens. They have resorted to terrorism, attacking the gathering places of those who are Jewish, along with those of color. They even attacked the building that houses the legislative branch of their country after the people spoke and the election didn’t go their way.
One may think this is a summary of the Republican Party and, while the similarities are striking, it’s a different religious right-wing conservative party.
This is Hamas.
