Letter to the editor: A nation in denial
Strange days indeed when the elephant in the room is actually a donkey, one wearing aviator shades and eating an ice cream cone. But half the electorate and most of the mainstream media are in denial of this fact. As Mark Twain said, “Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt.”
The idea that President Biden is capable of leading the United States of America is one of the many absurdities that our delusional, stupefied nation has succumbed to. The recent assertion by Special Counsel Robert Hur that Biden couldn’t remember when he was vice president is only the icing on the cake. The emperor hasn’t had any clothes on for years, but so many deniers continue to float down that river in Egypt, refusing to acknowledge reality.
It’s the same denial of reality that we see infesting every facet of society. From sex and gender, immigration, the weaponization of the federal government, censorship, election integrity and the entire pandemic ordeal, the denial of facts does not change reality. And sober-minded people cannot be forced to participate in these delusions.
At least the populace under the former Soviet Union realized that their media, Pravda and Tass, was completely state-controlled propaganda. Most have yet to come to that conclusion about our own media. Instead, many choose to stay “comfortably numb” with sports, social media, junk food, drugs, alcohol and endless screen time.
But the truth can only be suppressed for so long, “For nothing is hidden, that shall not be made manifest.”
