Our Founding Fathers understood that the federal government has one sole purpose: to serve the people. The current culture of Washington, D.C., couldn’t be more removed from this. As our capital’s corruption and incompetence grows, David McCormick seeks to halt its growth. McCormick’s proposal to move federal agencies out of the Beltway bubble and into communities across the U.S. would help achieve this goal.

One of McCormick’s proposed spots is one of the country’s historic economic and energy powerhouses: Pittsburgh. A center of economics, energy production and resource procurement since the industrial revolution, Pittsburgh led the development of natural resources with the first oil refinery along with achieving second place for natural gas production in the country. The Steel City is the natural choice for relocating the Department of Energy.

McCormick is also calling for civil service reform. Lifelong bureaucrats who don’t have the best interest of the American people in mind shouldn’t be able to serve in government forever. Shaking up Washington like this will make the bureaucracy more accountable and efficient.

McCormick’s opponent, Sen. Bob Casey, has accomplished little in his nearly two-decade run in office. Instead of serving as a civil servant, he serves as simply another career politician like most of the stock in Washington.

The federal government should work for us, not against us. McCormick doesn’t just want your vote, but your voice to be heard. Vote for McCormick this upcoming election.
