Letter to the editor: America is not so great right now

A recent letter-writer declared “America is already great” (Sept. 24, TribLive) and gave the credit to the current Democratic regime. While I respect everyone’s right to an opinion, I would disagree that America is currently as great as it once was. I would offer the following to her:

Take a trip out of Mayberry and visit San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Portland or most any place in California. Are they still destination places?

Visit the southern border. Do you feel comfortable with the administration that has allowed, according to a recent Fox News report 662,566 illegal immigrants into the country with criminal records, including 15,811 rapists, 56,533 with drug convictions and 2,521 kidnappers? That is 13,251 lawbreakers per state, and that is just those who were caught. Feel safe?

Colleges are teaching students to protest, and this administration wants to reward them with loan forgiveness. What life lesson is this?

Gas prices at $3.49 are now accepted as being normal. Our federal oil reserve is depleted. Heaven forbid if we have a national emergency.

If this writer is still of the mindset that America is great under this administration, then, as she closes her letter, “Keep this in mind when you go to the polls to vote.”
