Letter to the editor: American dysfunctionalism

Tribune-Review

American exceptionalism as we have known it is dying and is being replaced with what can only be called American dysfunctionalism. What was once accepted as truth, that America was the greatest nation in the annals of history, is fast disintegrating right before our eyes with the full cooperation of those in the pulpits and the free press.

God in his wisdom gave us free will —with free will comes responsibility or lack thereof. The lack thereof part has become the norm.

I, like others who have our roots sown deep in what can only be called “spiritual soil,” are faced daily with the disillusionment of our fellow Americans who have, intentionally or not, turned their backs on our creator and then wonder why things are going so wrong. I wonder why my fellow Americans, when they see and know something is wrong, will not step forward and say something, say anything. In my opinion the famous quote, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing,” embodies the character of modern America.

We often hear people say that only God can save America. We are the ones who have turned our backs on God and yet God has given us the ability, the opportunity and the strength to make it so. We must turn back to him. If only the preachers and those who run our media realized it — or then again, maybe they do.
