The letter “Stop funding Israeli violence” (Feb. 10, TribLIVE) provides an excellent illustration of what I had cited in my letter about anti-Israeli propaganda (“Israel not apartheid government,” Jan. 30,TribLIVE).

In a letter bereft of facts and laden with emotional anti-Israeli propaganda, the writer attributes all violence to Israel while ignoring violence instigated by the Palestinian attackers.

The cycle of violence in the Middle East is a never-ending tit for tat catalyzed by emotionally charged false narratives. Israel possesses the military power to annihilate the Palestinians but exercises the moral restraint not to do so. The Palestinian leadership seeks to annihilate Israel (and the Jewish people) but lacks the military power to do so. Instead they resort to the weapon of anti-Israeli propaganda. This only inflames hatred and misunderstanding and is counterproductive to the pursuit of a peaceful solution.
