The first full week in November is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. Animal shelters provide much-needed services to keep our communities healthy and safe. Animal shelters provide a bridge between homeless animals and people wanting to share their lives with an animal.

We are very fortunate in the Alle-Kiski Valley to have several rescue organizations as well as a full-service animal shelter. Animal Protectors rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes stray, injured, abused and abandoned dogs and cats. We have been providing these services in the Valley for 54 years. We also concentrate on humane education and outreach. as well as community service events such as microchip and rabies clinics.

People who work in animal shelters are very caring, loving and compassionate. Humane work is both physically and emotionally demanding. At Animal Protectors, we are very proud of our hardworking, compassionate staff. They have continued to love and care for our animals during these most trying times and continue to focus on the well-being and care of the animals.
