Letter to the editor: Are immigrants picking our vegetables, watching our kids?
Democratic Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal recently said this: “If you look at the food that’s on your table, think about who picked it. If you look at your homes, think about who built them. If you look at your vulnerable elders and your kids, think about who’s taking care of them.”
If I remember right, most of the illegal immigrants decided to go to the big cities like New York, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, Portland, Pittsburgh, etc. Does anyone know of a big vegetable farm in Pittsburgh? Or any other large city?
I don’t know of any, either. So what vegetable farms was she talking about in these cities?
Most of those cities are northern cities, work would be seasonal anyway. What would they do the rest of the year? Live off of taxpayer money and go on vacations?
As far as taking care of the elderly and children, try getting a background check on these people. You won’t be getting one. I always wanted to know who was watching my kids; I wanted to know that I could trust them. Would you trust them? They broke our laws by getting here, so do you think they’re going to obey the rest of the laws while they’re here?
Maybe Jayapal and President Trump should get together to see what other April Fools Day joke they can get us to believe. I don’t think most of us believe everything these politicians tell us until we see results.
