Letter to the editor: Are we not in a free country any more?

All my life I thought we lived in the land of the free — not. How can you call this a free country when we’re told what flags we can fly, what language we can use, what statues we can let stand and what we can name our streets, parks, teams, etc.? They even want to go as far as to tell us what we can do with and on our own property.

I’m sorry, but this doesn’t sound like the freedom our forefathers fought and died for. Suddenly, everything is discriminatory toward somebody, and soon as someone doesn’t like any of the above, our so-called government rushes in and changes it to appease. Well, it doesn’t appease everyone, I can tell you that.

They want a border wall around the Capitol to protect the politicians but don’t want a border wall to protect the American people. Something is wrong with this picture, but I guess this is President Biden’s land of the free, where maybe everything will be free except our individual rights — they can’t seem to take enough of those.
