Although the coronavirus situation must be taken with concern, there is an even greater threat to our country. The declarations of emergencies by federal, state and even some local governments pose a potential takeover of our lives by these entities.

I understand the need based on our current system for these declarations to free up funds and assistance to attempt to insure our health and welfare. But we as citizens must be extremely vigilant that these measures are temporary and do not overstep their bounds.

Governments over the past several decades have proven to be incompetent and corrupt (with the exception of our military and NASA — at one time, at least), and I for one strongly believe the less government in our lives the better off we are.

The private sector is much better equipped to thwart the coronavirus pandemic, and people helping people will get us through this situation.
