Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. Just witness the gifts included in President Biden’s “bag of goodies” as presented in his address to the joint session of Congress last month — a $1.8 trillion ($1,800,000,000,000) “American Families Plan” of investment and tax credits over 10 years for families and education; $200 billion for all 3- and 4-year-olds for preschool and kindergarten; $225 billion for up to 12 weeks of paid family leave; $4,000 per month per family for a national “family leave” program; four additional years (beyond K-12) of public education; two years of free community college; two years of subsidized tuition in high-demand fields; and many other treats to complete your wish list.

Please disregard the fact that everything in Biden’s proposal is being paid for with borrowed money. Although you are a youngster, you’ll learn all too soon that debts come due and must be paid. Never fear! I’d be certain that your parents, grandparents and, more significantly, you and your offspring will be more than happy to pay the bill on some far-off distant date; it’s almost like a fairy tale.
