Letter to the editor: Biden’s proposed Title IX changes no way to help children

The Biden administration’s proposed change to Title IX is yet another example of government run afoul of common sense and decency. This change would force our schools to allow boys and men to compete on the same playing fields as girls and women. This can only result in the end of girls’ athletics, replaced entirely with teams of boys claiming to be something that they are not. Expect those same boys in the locker rooms and bathrooms used by your daughters.

Title IX, once claimed to protect equal athletic opportunities for women and girls, is being turned on its head by progressives.

What’s worse is the often-used and insidious way our federal government accomplishes such things: coupling such rules with receipt of federal funding. Let’s recognize what this federal funding is and what it isn’t. It is not free or magic money. It is our money. It is money that we paid in taxes that the government then spent some of, shuffled around the bureaucracy and now threatens to withhold what little we expect to be returned.

Those children who are suffering with the thoughts of being born in the wrong body need our help. This isn’t it.
