Letter to the editor: BLM 'movement' dangerous

Tribune-Review

Black Lives Matter. I respect that as a slogan, but I believe the lives of all God’s children matter. What I do not respect is the “BLM movement” that uses the slogan as its motto. Why? Its three co-founders (Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi) are self-described trained Marxists and openly subscribe to Marxist-Leninist ideology. Their agenda encompasses the transformation of our society into a socialist state with all power in the hands of the government. Their agenda goes so far as to target the traditional nuclear family, a bedrock of society, and replace it with the “state” and the “collective” wherein children are raised by “villages.”

BLM is not an amorphous “movement.” It is well organized and funded by the BLM Global Network Foundation. Its donations are run through ActBlue, a fundraising platform for Democratic Party candidates and progressive organizations, which then forwards the millions it collects to another organization, Thousand Currents. This organization then passes the money to the BLM Foundation, then on to BLM chapters. As the saying goes, “follow the money.”

I believe the organized BLM members are using peaceful protesters as camouflage for their efforts to propagate chaos, distrust and enmity, and feed the fires of class warfare. As Hawk Newsome, president of the Greater New York BLM chapter, stated, “If the country doesn’t give us what we want, we will burn it down.”

We must come to our collective senses and realize the coronavirus is not the only threat to our way of life. The BLM “movement” is equally dangerous.
