In August 2021, as we drove through the old stomping grounds of Brackenridge on our way to visit friends, we noticed the nice “Hometown Heroes” banners affixed to many telephone poles. This was very heartwarming, something our local military men and women deserve. Great job, Brackenridge!

This made us explore how to get a banner for our uncle, Mario “Sputs” Granieri. Borough Councilman Tim Kohler explained and oversaw the entire process, keeping us informed along the way. Now Sputs, who lived on Roup Avenue for most of his 80 years, has his banner on the corner of Penn Street and Roup Avenue, looking down at his old homestead.

We want to thank Brackenridge and especially Kohler for making this happen. A very special tribute to so many Hometown Heroes.
