Many Mon Valley residents have perceived for years that Pennsylvania government has neglected the needs of its citizens, directing its efforts instead to Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

One lifelong Mon Valley resident decided four years ago to try to change the status quo. He successfully ran for office to put himself in a position to help meet the area’s needs.

My friend, Rep. Bud Cook, R-Bentleyville, has many fine qualities that make his work exceptional. He has a listening ear and a “doing” ability. He meets with teachers, farmers, business owners and community groups, and is dedicated to improving the environment and recreational opportunities, creating jobs, eliminating blight and drug addiction, and working on veterans’ issues and many other citizen concerns. He hears from you, the citizens.

Almost all of these issues require financial support for action to begin after goals are set. Cook has been successful in securing grants totaling more than $8 million. Those dollars are now working to help deal with the many problems facing the Mon Valley.

His work has just begun. Cook needs your support to continue the fine work he is doing.
