In my opinion, this extract from the article “Concerns voiced as reenactors replay Penn Township battle of British, Native Americans” (Aug. 6, TribLIVE), falls in the category of Bill Barr’s quote to the Jan. 6 committee (“BS!”): “… a complaint from an out-of-state resident of Native American heritage who reportedly considers portrayals there of Native Americans by non-Natives as disrespectful.”

Portrayals there are disrespectful. Really?

Did the long-distance complainer (LDC) offer any positive recommendations?

Is the LDC willing to come to Bushy Run Battlefield to offer assistance?

Has the LDC even been to Bushy Run to observe a reenactment?

Will the LDC assist in locating more persons of Native American lineage who would be interested in participating in the reenactment?

I visited the reenactment one day last year and both days this year. It is wonderful, it is amazing, it is eye-opening!

Your article well described the vetting process that Bushy Run uses in its search to ensure accuracy and fairness.

Now another “I feel disrespected” voice wants us to abandon our search and efforts to uncover and research and display otherwise overlooked history of Native Americans which occurred in our backyard.

I do not speak for the Bushy Run organization, but I shall assist them gladly in their efforts to prevail in the face of LDCs that seek to destroy efforts to preserve Native American heritage.
