Letter to the editor: Career politicians won’t unite us

I’ll make this quick and to the point. All I’ve been hearing about is how we should all stand together. Well, guess what: The career politicians are making that damn near impossible by caving in to every whim.

People are allowed to tear down statues, destroy property, not pledge allegiance to the flag; they’re trying to change the national anthem, eliminate the Confederate flag, change state flags, etc. How is painting statements all over public roads and buildings not vandalism? I guess the schools can eliminate all social studies and history books because they might offend somebody.

None of the above is going to change history, so who’s kidding who? All this is doing is driving America further apart than we’ve ever been, but the politicians don’t seem to care. All they want is votes to maintain their careers. And if you think sleepy Joe Biden is your answer, think again.

These politicians need to grow a backbone and quick before it’s too late. Or maybe it already is.
