Letter to the editor: Careful with those spotted lanternflies

Tribune-Review

So I’m sitting at a five-way intersection in Pittsburgh waiting for the light to go green when I look out the side window and see a gentleman stomping around in a wide circle. It dawns on me he is eradicating, or trying to deal with, the spotted lanternfly invasion. Finally, after one very hard crash of his right foot, he stops. Two things to conclude here: He got the little bugger, and he is right-handed, or at least right-footed.

Thinking back, his/our behavior has a historical precendent: Remember the “Bristol Stomp”? Remember “Stompin’ at the Savoy”?

My advice is take it easssy (sic) — a line from a past song, also. Accuracy is much more important than force. We don’t want the emergency rooms of the area coining a new term such as the spotted lanternfly fracture, do we?
