Although I am in total agreement with Ivo Fronzaglia’s letter “Catholic Church’s abortion stance” (Oct. 4, TribLIVE), it only scratches the surface.

His letter was a commentary on Pittsburgh Bishop David Zubik’s letter to his flock as it relates to the upcoming election. In it the bishop says he cannot endorse a candidate in the upcoming election, as it would violate federal law. He also reminds and encourages priests and deacons not to speak for or against any candidate, especially from the pulpit.

Sorry, Bishop, in my opinion, when it comes to the killing of babies in their mother’s wombs, you have an obligation to speak up. The church must inform all Catholics that they cannot vote for any Democrat who publicly advocates for legal abortion. Abortion is an intrinsic evil; it is always wrong, immoral and grave in every circumstance. I believe the Catholic Church has taught this since the time of the apostles.

This message should be shouted in a most forceful voice from every pulpit in the land. I suggest the entire leadership of the holy Catholic Church be mindful of our great president, Donald Trump, who proclaims “every life is a gift from God.” His administration will do what it takes to protect the lives of those who cannot speak for themselves. The one and only true church, the Catholic Church, must always remain true to the one who instituted it, Jesus Christ.
