We are celebrating 150 years of America’s longest standing civil rights organization, the National Rifle Association (NRA). The NRA works on gun safety, police and civilian shooting club programs and has reached over 32 million young Americans.

Here are quotes from three life member presidents:

• “I believe the Second Amendment will always be important. The NRA fills an important role in our national defense.” — President Kennedy

• “The right of the citizen to keep and bear arms must not be infringed if liberty in America is to survive.” — President Reagan

• “The folks who work so hard at the NRA are great people and great American patriots. They love our country and will do the right thing.” — President Trump
