Our world history is a witness that through all ages, stronger groups of people have tried to control weaker groups. However, it is important to note the message of equality has been delivered by all religions of the world.

For example, the Sikh religion, the world’s youngest, spreads the message of equality and condemns rituals. The concept of equality, diversity, inclusion and human right is embedded in all teachings enshrined in the Holy Guru Granth Sahib.

Here are a few of the many relevant teachings;

• There is one creator, and we are all his children.

• There is only one human race, and every one is connected to each other.

• You cannot label people as good or not good, since all are created by the same creator that created you.

We can best celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day by becoming more tolerant, more capable, more valuable to our community, stronger, consequential and real practitioners of Human Equality.

We should each take time to introspect and self-assess our own attitude, behavior and actions and identify what needs to be removed, then prepare a list of habits we want to bring into our action to make the journey of life pleasant and meaningful.

Let us all, using divine sight, accept the whole humanity as manifestation of our creator, feel humbled, exalted and blessed, and work for the advancement of each other.
