Letter to the editor: CEO salaries ridiculous
Reading the paper today showed once again the injustice of CEOs’ salaries (“UPMC CEO Jeffrey Romoff made $8.54M in 2018, a 40% jump,” May 17, TribLIVE). With all the problems that cause havoc in our medical system, we need to find solutions. Yet they pay one man almost $9 million to be a figurehead? Ridiculous.
Without the employees, where would these CEOs be? A regular employee who gets a dollar-an-hour raise is happy and content. But they hand out millions in raises to the top brass. Some of this money should be given to the people who deserve it, the ones who make it possible for the executives to have their mansions, private get-aways, planes, yachts, expensive cars and more. All that money wasted to have some person sit in a fancy chair in a big office.
