Regarding the letter “We must oppose Pa. electric car fee bill” (Dec. 2, TribLIVE): Why not tax electric cars for using the road? If the next president kills the gas and oil industry, there will be no gas tax to fix the roads. Do you think the roads fix themselves?

Electric cars have been using the roads for free for years. What’s the big deal? Isn’t that fair? Why should people driving gas cars pay more? Does miles driven equal miles taxed? (A small fee is still cheaper.) When larger vehicles are sold new, they pay an extra tax for being larger.

I wonder if you complained a few years back when Pennsylvania increased the gas tax by 28 cents over several years. I want the state to reduce the gas tax now since everything they said they would fix with those funds should be done by now. What are they now doing with the extra money? Do you think our state actually will reduce any tax anywhere for us?
