Letter to the editor: Christians and Trump

Tribune-Review

“Away from me! I never knew you.” — Jesus.

One thing we learned from this election is that America is certainly not a Christian nation. Christians know Jesus and hear his voice. They obey. Christians welcome the stranger, feed the poor, heal the sick, are meek, turn the other cheek, hold no hate in their hearts, don’t carry guns, do no harm to neighbors and love the transgendered.

To judge is to reward or punish. Vengeance is his, not mine. I cannot judge. I can only discern right from wrong and let God bring his judgment.

There wasn’t one Christian who voted for Donald Trump. No, not one. This is easily discerned by their fruits. Many will claim to be Christian, but the chosen elect know the road is indeed narrow and there are few who find it. There are no hypocrites among the sheep.

It’s not political. It’s a heart thing. Voting for Trump didn’t make people sinners. It was a symptom of not having their heart in the right place in the first place. God hardens the heart of the weak and the unfaithful, never more evident until now.

Sadly, the path to hell is paved with MAGA hats, and there is no sadder sight than watching the condemned who believe they are not. It is God who grants repentance, and it is impossible for the deplorable to repent. The very definition tells us this. No, the deplorable tells us they are proud to vote for a felon. Proud to be American. Proud to be a Christian.

Pride goes before a fall.

God hates pride.
