Letter to the editor: Circus of madness

Tribune-Review

The late, great Nat King Cole long ago sang, “It’s a Barnum and Bailey world. Just as phony as it can be.” But now we’re living in the middle of the greatest circus ever seen … and phony is an understatement.

Take a seat and watch people virtue signal by driving down the highway alone while wearing an ineffective face mask.

Turn on your telescreen, if you dare, to view mainstream corporate media broadcast its version of Orwellian Newspeak. The latest party slogans from the Ministry of Truth will be endlessly repeated, so pay close attention, otherwise the Thought Police may pay you a visit.

Watch the latest in absurdist theater, the Kafkaesque Jan. 6 committee hearings, with a line of questioning and witness testimony funnier than the classic, “My Cousin Vinny.” Some FBI agents are sure to be nominated for Best Supporting Actor Emmys, too.

Or you can go to the main tent to listen to the ringmaster stumble over his words and speak gibberish while desperately trying to explain away out-of-control inflation, scarcity of goods, soaring gas prices, uncontrolled immigration and a soon coming food crisis. All performed while wearing aviator shades, eating an ice cream cone and avoiding any questions concerning his son’s laptop.

The clowns are in control, the animals are out of their cages and the freaks are real in this circus of madness. Steer clear before the big top comes down.
