Letter to the editor: Climate change is cyclical

I remember in the 1970s or 1980s when the experts were predicting an ice age would be forthcoming soon. Then, in the late 1990s, “global warming” due to carbon dioxide emissions became the mantra. When this did not seem to fit reality, the new phrase became “climate change.” The climate has always changed. The planet has endured ice ages in the past as well as periods of warming. If these cycles had not occurred, I would not be writing (and you would not be reading) this letter.

The elites are pushing “15 minute cities,” replacing meat with insects in our diets, electric vehicles, carbon taxes and a host of other “brilliant” ideas, all in the name of redistributing the wealth, in order to gain more power and control over society.

We are on this earth for only a short period of time. Our experience of the “weather” is a mere snapshot of what has occurred weatherwise in the earth’s billions of years of existence. I liken it to watching a movie. If you view a single frame of a movie, you cannot determine what happened prior to that frame without looking at the frames preceding it; similarly you cannot determine how the movie is going to play out.

“Climate change” is a lot like that. You can do the research to see that “climate change” is cyclical. But we cannot predict the outcome of how it will play out in the future; we can only speculate.
