Letter to the editor: Climate change is natural

Tribune-Review

In reference to global warming, all temperature comparisons start around 1880, after the end of the mini ice age which lasted from 1300 to 1850 AD. Of course, temperatures must rise, just as they do in spring.

Climate change is natural. It was 3.5 degrees Fahrenheit warmer 3,300 years ago; 2.5 degrees warmer during the Roman Empire; and 1.6 degrees warmer during medieval times. Humans survived and built the world’s greatest architecture. All temperatures prior to 700 AD were warmer than now.

Carbon is a fertilizer that makes plants grow larger and faster and reduces food shortages. Humidity raises temperatures, not carbon. Reducing carbon hurts the poor. Glaciers over water have already displaced the water. When they melt, there is zero sea rise.

The February 2021 arctic freeze set a 122-year low record. I believe covid lockdowns were a trial run for climate lockdowns with fossil fuel and cattle reductions, which will put millions out of work. Farmers in Denmark and Ireland are being asked to commit to slaughtering 30% of their cattle to save the planet.

In 1992, Maurice Strong, secretary-general of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, said, “We may get to the point where the only way of saving the world will be for industrial civilization to collapse.” Sounds like they are looking forward to life after people.

In my opinion, climate change is just more verbal deceit and fake data like politics and critical race theory. Personally, I’m looking forward to a cruise from Boston to Seattle around Canada’s Northwest passage.
