Letter to the editor: Clint Hurdle should go
Regarding the headline “Bullpen blows it again as Pirates lose to Nationals” (April 13, TribLIVE): It’s not the bullpen. It’s Clint Hurdle’s handling of the pitching staff.
In at least four of the Bucs’ last six losses, Hurdle pulled the starting pitcher who was pitching great and had the lead. Of course those pitchers were close to this stupid 100-pitch philosophy.
Does anyone remember Vernon Law pitching games of 11 and 17 innings? He must have had an alien arm from outer space, according to today’s ridiculous idealism.
Get rid of the 100-pitch count and get rid of Hurdle, unless he abandons that dumb philosophy.
