Regarding the article “Pitt students, volunteers create VaccinatePA to connect residents with vaccination info” (Feb. 20, TribLIVE): So the people that we pay taxes to, who are supposed to know stuff, have let us down in a big way. They’ve had since mid-October to prepare a Pennsylvania-wide site for registering or finding information for receiving the covid vaccination. They have failed terribly at that.

Enter an almost random group of college students who do have relevant knowledge. They consolidate the places that can give the shots with some information on how to register. An activity that our paid health people were unable to do. Thank you, Dr. Rachel Levine, among others. But sure enough, President Biden has recognized Levine’s talent and promoted her to a national stage. See what merit can do?

Thank you to the Pitt students.
