OK, I own guns: rifle, pistols and an air rifle, kept locked up with safety devices on them. Most of the deadly shootings as of late were done with large-bullet-capacity rifles that could shoot large amounts of rounds in seconds.

If you hunt, in most cases one or two shots downs your animal. If you are sport shooting, three to five rounds is normal practice for most skeet and target shooting. Shooting in most indoor ranges is 12 to 15 rounds.

Shooters wore battle armor and camouflage, which in the past was only available for military and police use to protect them from return fire in battle, recon or domestic issues. Now explain how children in schools and people in church and public areas are direct threats.

So does the regular citizen need these types of weapons or equipment? Some are trying to justify the availability of those military-grade weapons, with no regulation, age requirement or extensive background checks. We need sound minds rethinking the rules and regulations; the loose way purchasing and availability is being handled is not working.

We all need to look long and hard at what needs to be done. Plus, the removal of the Second Amendment would be a long process of voting in Congress, and then to the states with two-thirds approval, which is 35 states.
