Letter to the editor: Communities should support Lower Valley Ambulance

Tribune-Review

Why is Oakmont willing to pay a different ambulance service $50,000 plus another $50,000 for a new ambulance (“Oakmont officials select Parkview EMS as borough’s new ambulance service,” March 7, TribLIVE)? How much did they pay Lower Valley Ambulance Service?

Borough Manager Scot Fodi stated council had concerns following a December newspaper article about Lower Valley’s financial problems … problems Oakmont and other communities had a part in creating by not supporting Lower Valley for the last 50 years. Talk about ingratitude. Perhaps if Oakmont and the other communities it serves had given them money (I read that many communities don’t contribute any money) they wouldn’t be so cash-strapped.

Shame on Oakmont’s government for abandoning this half-century partnership. Every year, Lower Valley sends out membership reminders to all residents of the communities it serves. How many residents can say they support this ambulance service? I can say I have always supported the local fire and ambulance services. Can you?
